Zumobi is the leading developer of "branded" iPhone applications. That means we work with some of the biggest brands in the world (American Idol, MSNBC, XBox, REI) to extend their content and reach their customers on the #1 superphone platform in the world. We also pay close attention to other platforms like the Palm Pre and Google's Android. The Advertising Operations Manager will work with the product development and ad sales teams to develop a slate of next-generation, high-value advertising opportunities. We're looking for an experienced individual to take a hands-on role in all levels of advertising operations, including ad trafficking, campaign implementation, inventory management, creative management, campaign reporting, and sales and client support. The Advertising Operations Manager will have the ultimate responsibility for ensuring full online campaign delivery and tracking. The successful candidate will be able to thrive and grow with the job in a fast paced, high growth environment, be flexible and willing to tackle new opportunities, and have a passion for the mobile experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Define and implement ad operations processes and manage the daily operations of the department
  • Be the primary point of contact for all ad related inquiries
  • Support design & implementation of new ad products, network relationships and strategy
  • Collaborate with internal teams to launch new and support existing ad products
  • Coordinate with our ad serving vendor and any 3rd-party ad servers in the set-up, execution and reporting of our ad campaigns
  • Interface with sales, marketing, and other teams to ensure campaign implementation and delivery
  • Interface with accounting/finance department for AR, revenue distribution, billing and department expenses
  • Optimize ad campaigns to insure complete delivery and maximum revenue
  • Manage inventory allocation across direct sales, network sales and house ad campaigns
  • Provide accurate inventory forecasts to the sales and finance teams
  • Create and analyze reports to insure campaign performance and contract compliance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all internal and external issues associated with ad campaigns (ad related tech support)

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years relevant work experience managing online ad operations
  • Experience with one or more internet ad serving systems, such as Atlas, DoubleClick or OpenX
  • Understanding of inventory management principles
  • Familiar with online advertising, sales, and marketing concepts & metrics
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Advanced spreadsheet and database management skills
  • Superior time management skills and capacity to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Excellent project-management skills
  • Solid HTML, JavaScript & Rich Media knowledge coupled with internet technical expertise
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to "think outside of the box"

Production Operations Engineer - Posted May 28, 2009

Does running a script that automates previously manual tasks bring a smile to your face? Will you be able to articulate to management why the pager went off and how you were able to keep the system running and profitable during what could have been downtime?

We're a small team of A+ players who are more interested in the best way to solve the problem than in "the new way that seems cool". If you're a systems ninja who has proven experience helping to manage high-traffic web sites, we want to meet you.

Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with developers to design and deploy complex systems supporting the company's products in a 7x24 environment
  • Build and enhance automation solutions that replace manual deployment and maintenance tasks
  • Own the company's monitoring and alerting systems, including working with developers to specify standard manageability features of server software componentry
  • Support multiple deployment environments for development, staging, and production
  • Perform load analysis and trend analysis to drive capacity planning for server components
  • Willingness to carry an on-call pager and manage pager rotations among qualified staff
  • Document, document, document (via wiki pages or more traditional technical documentation) the inner workings of our operational environment
  • Own replication and backup/disaster recovery systems for production environments
  • Work with outsourced corporate IT staff to oversee areas of overlap (corporate network access, offsite backup storage, hardware procurement, documentation, etc)

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Strong Linux skills required. Experience with installations, upgrades, and maintenance required; Linux virtualization experience a plus
  • Network administration skills required. Configuring network devices like switches, firewalls, and routers is part of the job.
  • Experience with high-traffic, public-facing websites
  • Experience with open source monitoring systems like Nagios, Zenoss, Zabbix
  • Experience managing and maintaining open-source relational databases
  • Ability and desire to automate systems administration tasks with shell scripts and open source tools like Puppet and Capistrano
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Familiarity with Linux in public cloud computing environments (EC2, Nirvanix, Mosso) and CDN solutions (Akamai, Limelight, CloudFront) is a plus
